In our turbulent times it can be good to know there are plants which are good protection from radiation, and good to incorporate into our normal diet. No reason to be fearful, only realistic, and to do our best for a positive change, away from toxicity.
Vitamin C (from citrus fruit, kiwi, acerola berries and other berries) cannot only protect against radiation, but also repair damage from previous exposure. There is abundant scientific proof for this. Green peppers, broccoli and green leafy vegetables also have an abundance of vitamin C. Eating the fruit and vegetables raw is the best way to get vitamin C.
Pomegranate is high in both potassium and vitamin C, and so delicious.
Rosequartz or black tourmalin crystals are excellent radiation absorbers, always keep one close to your computer and television ( every now and then rinse in cold water and let it rest for a day or two, before being put back to work).
Kelp and seaweeds in general are great sources of iodone and potassium, although I dont really know how the Japanese seaweeds wil be safe from contamination, we have to look for alternatives.
A theory within alternative medicine is that, the radioactivity is mistaken for iodine and potassium by the body, and the body will absorb it accordingly, but if we have proper amounts of true iodine and potassium in the system, the body does not need to absorb the radioactivity.
As seaweed has a detoxifying effect as well, it might work two ways.
For our relatives and friends in Japan; extra virgin olive oil, or any cold pressed, extra virgin oil will do in an emergency. If you are exposed or are going to be, you can drink a half cup and if will help supply protection for the cell membranes. Spiderwort (Tradescantia x andersoniana/Tremästarblomma) plant is a good barometer of the extent of toxicity from radioactivity. The flowers change color when exposed to radiation.
