Traditionally, Oregano has been used for thousands of years as a supplement to strengthen immune systems. Oregano contains thymol and carvacrol, two oils that possess amazing bacteria-fighting power.
Over the years, several scientific studies have proven the antibacterial power of Oregano. One study tested Oregano oil and other essential oils against 10 different types of harmful bacteria, including E.coli, Salmonella, and Staphyolococcus. Of all the oils tested, Oregano rated the highest in germ-killing activity, and carvacrol (the component in oregano) ranked as the strongest anti-bacterial component among all the oils tested. Another test specifically showed Oregano oil’s ability to fight the Staphyolococcus bacteria – Oregano not only damaged the structure of the bacteria, but also reduced the bacteria’s ability to generate harmful toxins.
Besides its fantastic abilities as an immune booster and bacteria killer for the body, Oregano is an all natural, yet powerful preservative in products, the plant's strong antibacterial properties allows the products to have a longer shelf life, keeping them fresh and safe to use, naturally.
