After an inspiring trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico,
my craving for a spicy hot chocolate increased.
Not a sugar-high, hardly any chocolate kind of beverage,
but a rich, full-bodied, Georgia O'Keefe kind of drink.
So I had to whip up a concoction from what I had at hand,
and it turned out delicious.
And not only delicious, what is in there is a spice and herbal road to health. Unfortunately I did not think of sharing my recipe, hence taking a photo of it, until I already had drunk half my cup of hot chocolate.
Do as follows;
2 tsp of 70% chocolate powder
1/2 tsp of sugar
pinch of cayenne/chili pepper powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
1/3 tsp cardamom powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
a pinch of black pepper
put the mix in your favorite cup
and add 1 cup of hot almond/oat/coconut milk
and mix it all, before adding the rest of the milk.
If the milk is sweetened the sugar is not needed.
I use a milk frother for some extra smoothness.
You can and should be adjusting the measurement according to your taste buds.
